About Me

Isle Royale 2010

Hello all.  My name is Tim Gallaway and I am a kayak instructor, engineering student, and traditional paddler among other things.  I started my kayak career as a guide in 2008 at Woods & Water Ecotours and since then I have become an ACA L4 Open Water Sea Kayak Instructor.  I am relatively new to the sport and the kayaking community but there are few other groups of people that I have been a part of that are quite as much fun as kayakers.  The main purpose of this website is to spread the word about the sea-kayak expedition from the Great Lakes to the St. Lawrence Seaway that I undertook in spring of 2012.  I am also hoping to connect the various kayak groups and communities.  I’ve heard from several east coast kayakers that they know little to nothing about the great lakes and it’s the same going the other way.  I would love to see more of a connection between freshwater and saltwater.
